The Hidden Mask That’s Blocking Your Calling
What masks are you wearing that are preventing you from being your most authentic self—the person God designed you to be?
Once you identify the masks that you put on to be “presentable” to the world, you then must identify the limiting beliefs that lead you to wear such a mask.
A Personal Turning Point
7 months ago, I dropped all the masks that were inauthentic to me.
It came after learning of a diagnosis. While I will not come into agreement with that diagnosis—because I put God’s Word above the world’s opinions and definitions—it was information that felt like the missing piece to my puzzle.
When I learned of this diagnosis, it drastically helped me to better understand my wiring, needs, and who God designed me to be.
Designed for Eternity, Not the World
I am not your average worldly person.
The older I get, the more difficult I find it is to be in the world. I would rather focus my attention on eternal matters than worldly ones. But I would be lying if I said that it never got lonely. I am blessed to have one friend who shares the same point of view.
For years, I tried so hard to be as the world conditioned me to be. I did what the world told me to do, but I noticed it never stuck. I would always fall back to my default mode, which is studying, being active, coaching people, and snuggling with my pup in comfy clothes.
Living a Lie in Plain Sight
It makes me wonder how many people are going to get to the end of their life only to learn they lived it inauthentically to how God designed them to be.
Chasing ambitions and goals that are not 100% authentic to them but are driven by their toxic mindsets.
As an executive coach and trained therapist and pastoral counselor, it is amazing to hear how many people are unintentionally allowing their toxic mindsets—like fear of man, perfectionism, rejection, or envy—to dictate their steps.
Losing Yourself While Trying to Prove Yourself
I think sometimes we are trying so hard to prove ourselves to the world that we lose ourselves in the process.
There’s good news. When you learn to set your mind on Heavenly matters, and work with God to renew your mind and practice the art of spiritual warfare, it’s amazing how quickly those masks fall to dust. And then—only then—will you learn of God’s perfect will, ambition, and desires He has in store for you.
What You’ll Discover When the Mask Comes Off
What you will find at the end of that rainbow is peace, blessing, and hope.
Many of the ambitions or goals you once had for yourself—ambitions dictated more by the world than your own heart—will fall off of you, allowing you to see what you truly aspire to do by the grace of God.
Are You Living in Alignment with Who God Designed You to Be?
Many high performers live with hidden masks—trying to be what the world expects instead of who God created them to be. They chase success, but deep down, something feels off. Are you one of them?
Here’s How to Find Out:
1️⃣ What masks are you wearing?
- Are you trying to appear stronger, smarter, or more successful than you feel?
- Are you hiding behind busyness, perfectionism, or people-pleasing?
2️⃣ Are your ambitions shaped by the world or by God?
- Are your goals driven by fear, comparison, or approval-seeking?
- Do your dreams bring peace or pressure?
3️⃣ How can you renew your mind and walk in God’s design?
- Spend time in God’s Word and ask Him to show you His plan.
Surrender worldly expectations and ask: “What do YOU want for my life, Lord?”

“Do not be conformed to this world…but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes].”
When you let go of masks, you gain peace, clarity, and purpose.
You stop striving for approval and start thriving in your God-given calling.
